About us

Indian Association for Volunteer Effort or lave is a network organised with the major objectives of :

  • Encouraging voluntary participation in improving the quality of life in the community and the neighbourhoods,
  • Providing opportunities for exchange and interaction at regional and international meetings and national gatherings,
  • Encouraging and supporting volunteer movements,
  • Propagating the concept of volunteering among all sections of society; encouraging plurality of involvement of various religious, gender, ethnic community and age groups and
  • Helping people in distress.

The three principles on which lave works are universality, impartiality and neutrality.

INITIATORS

lave has been jointly initiated by People's Institute for Development and Training (PIDT), a national-level Voluntary Organisation and the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), a voluntary . organisation having a consultative status with the UN ECO-SOC with a membership in more than 100 countries around the world.

MEMBERSHIP
The membership of lave is open to:

  • Individuals, young and old, volunteers and professionals, like doctors, engineers, architects, journalists, advocates etc. who are willing to volunteer their quality time to mitigate the suffering of their less fortunate brothers and sisters,
  • Organisations engaged in volunteer activities. Such organisations should have been working for at least one year and should be represented by the head of the organisation or by a designated representative,
  • Corporates, small and medium size business enterprises who are willing to invest human and material resources in volunteering for the communities of the under privileged.
