“ Volunteering for Peace in Multicultural Societies ” focuses on the fact that all countries in the World are multicultural in one way or the other and we look towards receiving your experiences in engaging with development and human welfare in multicultural environments whether in pre-conflict, post conflict or no-conflict situations.
The Conference would foster dialogue to enable the “Culture of Peace” at all levels of Nation, community and family.
From the beginning of this Millennium we have seen much war and terror and diverse peoples from across the globe have come to realize that there is no Victory in War and certainly no PEACE can come of War!
Yet again since the beginning of this Millennium has seen an unprecedented spate of Natural Disasters where hundreds and thousands of people have volunteered to reach out to aid the suffering overcome!
Volunteers worldwide are working in various capacities to help Governments achieve the Millennium Development Goals set out by UNDP and set right the path for Peace through equity.
The Conference would engage in experiential learning's rather than theoretical debates unless they arise from praxis. The thrust being cross-sharing of volunteer experiences, we would specifically encourage lessons learnt from the grassroots.
Volunteering for Peace may be discussed either in the context of
i. structural violence within societies and in the household
ii. internal domination of majority cultures within a Nation.
iii. aggression across and between Nations.
Emphasis or focus on gender issues and issues regarding domination of minorities, socially excluded or weaker sections of society are encouraged for discussion so that we may arrive at a common platform of understanding.
The Conference is designed as large platform where you are encouraged to invite your friends to form defined focus groups for lobby and advocacy. |
