1100 : Qutab Minar
13 km to the south of Connaught Circus, the 72.5 m high tower stands as a victory stand of King Kutub-ud-din-Aibak in India . The 5 storeyed Qutub Minar is a remarkable instance of sculpture in India . The 1st floor made of sand stone by Kutub, the 2nd & 3rd floors made of sand stone by Iltutmis and the 4th and 5th in both sand stone and marble by Feroz Shah Tughluk in 1368. The Qutub Minar complex also houses the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque & iron pillar dating back to 4 th century AD.
1230 : Drive Past President Palace & India Gate
Straight down the road from Rashtrapati Bhavan along a magnificent view and totally unhampered drive is India Gate. Designed by Lutyens, the 42 metre high structure is a war memorial in honor of the Indian soldiers who died in 1st World War & 3rd Afgan War. Under the structure is the Amarjawan Joyoti (Eternal flame) & an inverted rifle & helmet which honors the soldiers who lost their lives in 1971 Indo-Pak War.
The Rashtrapati Bhawan is the official residence of the President of India . Designed by Edwin Lutyens & Henary Baker, it was the official residence of the Viceroy when George V, Emperor of British empire shifted the capital from Kolkata to Delhi . With 340 rooms and an area of about 330 acres, it is an imposing structure and a tourist's delight. The pillars and the porticos are an architect's marvel and so are the Durbar Hall and the Ashoka hall within the complex.

1500 : Red Fort
The Red Fort, Shah Jahan's elegant citadel in red sandstone, was built on the western bank of the river Yamuna. Shahjahan, started the construction of this massive fort in 1638, when he shifted the capital from Agra to Delhi . The fort was completed along with the huge city of Shajahanabad after nine years on 16 th April 1648. This sandstone fort possess grand audience halls, marble places, once embedded with precious stones, a market place where the royalty used to shop, a mosque, gardens with marbled fountains, plazas, baths etc. There is a light & sound show tracing the Mughal history every evening. both is Hindi & English.
1600 : Drive Past Jama Majid
Outside the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid dominates the landscape with its bulbous domes and twin slender minarets piercing the sky. The Chandni Chowk, the cultural center of 'Shahjahanabad' (the old city of Delhi ) has a few mosques, notably the Sunehri Masjid from where Nadir Shah had supervised the plunder and carnage of the city. The Fatehpuri Masjid without minarets is unique in its architectural style.
1700 : Drive Past Raj Ghat
On the bank of river Yamuna, which flows past New Delhi , there is Rajh Ghat the last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. It has become an essential point of call for all visiting dignitaries. Besides Raj Ghat the other near by places to see are the two museums dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.
